Sharyl was born in Corpus Christi, TX and moved to Laredo, TX as a young child. This move to the Texas-Mexico border culture profoundly influenced her development as an artist and continues to influence her work today. She was mesmerized by the lively environment and intense colors. Her travels to Brazil, India and Vietnam enhanced this passion for color and ethnic cultures.

Sharyl began beading in 1997 and continues to expand her interest in a wide variety of fiber related media, including hand dyed textiles, paper weaving, on-loom and off-loom weaving, and hand- made paper. She enjoys adding beads to her creations for texture and luminescence.

Sharyl was honored at the Fiberworks 2012 juried show with the Handweavers Guild of America Award. She is also a studio artist at AHHA through January of 2015.
